Program Notes
A Skip out of Sight is a short work for solo cello that follows the dreams of an old man. Beginning beleaguered, the piece opens with the slow trudge of boots being dragged along the ground. Whether through daydreaming or miracle, the old man is injected with a shot of youth and careens through a series of waltzes, marches, and stomps until commencing a final sprint.
Commission Info/Premiere
This piece was commissioned by Cellist and dear friend Guillermo Mireles, with an expected premier in Fall of 2024.
